Okay, I made up the number 157—sort of. I will not be writing 157 articles outlining 157 separate evolutionary frauds. (There are far more than that!)

157 is the number of years that have passed since the publication in 1859 of Charles Darwin’s “Favored Races” (otherwise known as “On the Origin of Species”) inclusively to the present. So I regard each passing year as another year of fraud perpetrated on a gullible taxpaying public by evolutionary con artists. Hence the number 157. (I have outlined a brief sketch in another article why Darwin’s “Favored Races” was essentially fraudulent from the beginning. The full title of Darwin’s book, by the way, is “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection OR The Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life“. Darwin’s “favored races” most certainly included a very racist view of what he regarded as superior and inferior races of humanity.)

Of all of the evolutionists writings I have read, I have become rather especially fond of arch-evolutionist Niles Eldredge’s assessment of the whole cadre of Darwinian paleontologists:

We paleontologists have said that the history of life supports [“the story of gradual adaptive change”], all the while really knowing that it does not.”—emph. supp. (Eldredge, Time Frames, pg. 144)

Were it not so broad an assertion, Eldredge’s accusation against Darwinian paleontologists might not merit a second glance. The prevarication he references, though, is monumental not only in its scope, but in its significance. Here Eldredge essentially accuses all the practitioners of paleontology, the entirety of the profession, of knowingly perpetrating the myth of gradualistic Darwinian evolution on the basis of willfully misconstrued fossil evidence.

Eldredge should know: as a former curator at the American Museum of Natural History, and arguably the world’s leading paleontologist, he is an insider at the top of the evolutionary food chain. Eldredge says the paleontologists knew the Darwinian dogma was not supported by the fossil record but claimed it as truth anyway. I am merely asserting here my agreement with Eldredge on this point. The complete lack of transitional forms in the fossil record has been well known by everyone with even a passing interest in the subject since Darwin first penned his speculations–and afterwards. But that is certainly not what the propagandists of the Great Darwinian Propaganda Machine have conveyed to an ignorant public and naïve grade school and university students for the last 150 years, is it?

Is it?

On a related note, the reality of manifest purpose in the makeup and coordinated complexity of living organisms is OBVIOUS in the innumerable specifics of biology. Every feature of biology exists in order to, or for the purpose of, or so that…from gross anatomy all the way down to sub-microscopic structures. On another front, and to cite another example, the reality of intelligent design and orchestration of the heavens is manifestly OBVIOUS in the phenomenon of perfect total eclipses of the sun. These things are self-evident, manifest, self-testifying. Evolutionists are frantically and desperately engaged in denying the obvious. Show me the man who believes perfect solar eclipses “just happened” to coordinate by random chance; I have a bridge to sell to that gentleman.

Dear reader, understand this: lurking just below the surface of many debates between creationists and evolutionists, especially regarding geology, is the implicit message of Divine judgment. The Great Flood, which was an act of Divine judgment against a world overflowing with violence, is perhaps THE centerpiece of creationist polemics and figures prominently in any systematic treatment of the subject. The reality of God’s punishment of human sin is testified to by the 1 ½ miles (on average) of sedimentary (formed by water deposition), fossil-bearing rock covering almost the entirety of the land surface of the earth! Ninety five per cent of all of the fossil-bearing sediment consists of marine invertebrates! Nearly all of the rest of the fossils consist of marine vertebrates. The land dwelling vertebrates which are the stuff of so many depictions of the fictional “geologic column” consists of a fraction of one per cent of all known fossils. But this is hardly what is represented in the textbook depictions of the geologic column, is it? No, after all, we would not want to give students the wrong impression!

Fear of Divine judgment is the source of the hostile vehemence with which evolutionists react to creationists claims. Which vehemence raises a question all on its own: if we creationists (and even agnostics) are all obviously just simply “stupid” and “looney” and “in need of psychiatric help,” as self-proclaimed atheist Richard Dawkins claims, then why do evolutionists get so worked up into a frenzy about creationist claims and polemics? There is an incongruity there. The intense animosity of evolutionists against the message of creation does not make sense if we creationists are just deluded fools. We are, in that case, simply a side-show. Methinks they doth protest too much!

The emotional shrillness of the evolutionists, especially the new breed of atheists, has nothing to do with science and everything to do with consciences laden with guilt and terror at the prospect of Divine judgment. That is why creationist geology scares them to death. If they really are fully convinced there is nothing to creationists claims, and are firmly convinced in their Naturalism, evolutionists would not so much as bat an eyelid at us. They would simply be amused at us. Their emotional reactions (Let’s call it what it is: hatred) to the message of creation betrays an internal awareness of a recognition that we creationists are right. The evolutionists controversy with creationism, then, has at its root nothing to do with science, but with the dynamics of sin and psychological denial.

Evolutionists attempt to retreat from reality into a state of psychological denial. They cite the record of the miracles in the Bible as supposed “evidence” that biblical creationists believe in fairy tales. Such citations assume there is no spiritual realm. But it is Naturalism which is the fairy tale, and which the Naturalists accept as a matter of faith in defiance of empirical data, a couple examples of which I have mentioned above. Unfortunately for evolutionists, the reality of Divine judgment cannot be avoided by the futile effort of fleeing into the darkness. It behooves us as polemicists for creation to be cognizant of this reality when we deal with evolutionists. To reiterate the point: the underlying motivating factor of evolutionists is not science and the pursuit of knowledge but the dynamics of sin. Evolutionists love the darkness rather than the light because their deeds are evil. They are swallowed up in the dynamics of deceiving and being deceived.

But there I go digressing again.

Evolutionary Frauds

In upcoming articles, we will be taking a look at evolutionary frauds including the most famous Piltdown Man, as well as Nebraska Man, “feathered” dinosaurs, etc. Just to pique your curiosity, regarding the Nebraska Man fraud, I will be advancing an assertion which I do not believe anyone heretofore has made.

A Prelude to Piltdown Man; some introductory observations.

This year, 2015, marks the 100th anniversary of the famous “Discussion on the Piltdown Skull” painting by John Cooke. The painting commemorated the “discovery” of the famous Piltdown Man bones and other related “artifacts” in Sussex, England, announced on December 18th of 1912 and supposedly “demonstrating” an intermediate link between ape and man, a “missing link.” Cooke’s painting was commissioned by the Royal Society (and currently resides at Burlington House, the Geological Society of London) to celebrate this triumph of evolutionary “science.” Lifelike “reconstructions” of Piltdown Man were also proudly and triumphantly exhibited for 40 years both in the British Museum of Natural History and the American Museum of Natural History as “proof” of human evolution.

The “find” celebrated by the painting was authoritatively baptized into the Church of Human Evolution by bestowing on it the scientific name of “Eoanthropus Dawsonii” (Dawson’s Dawn Man) by the eminent Arthur Smith Woodward. Woodward was keeper of geology at the British Museum of Natural History. Woodward bestowed the name “Eoanthropus Dawsonii” in honor of its “finder,” (note well) Charles Dawson. The “find” was proven in 1953 by Joseph Weiner and his associates to be a fraud, consisting of parts of a modern human cranium and a partial orangutan jaw, doctored up to look ancient and planted in the ground by lawyer and amateur paleontologist and geologist Charles Dawson. (More on Dawson-as-perpetrator-acting-alone to come.) Thus, Piltdown Man’s 40 year acting career came to an abrupt end.
I have come to love Cooke’s painting. The painting is absolutely rich with unintended irony. Notice that on the wall, hovering over England’s greatest scientists, is a portrait of Charles Darwin, the original deceiver. Below Darwin is Charles Dawson, the (lone) perpetrator of the Piltdown Man fraud, the man who “salted” the gravel pit at Piltdown, and who deceived the greatest English scientists of the time. Notice that Darwin’s body in the painting touches Dawson’s head, indicating connection and continuity. Yes, Darwin passed on his legacy of deceit to the deceiver Charles Dawson, who in turn passed the deceit on to England’s greatest scientists of the day, who passed the deceit on to the world at large.

Discussion on the Piltdown Skull” also portrays the intense, enraptured analysis of the whole gang of the fraudulent “artifact,” who were attempting to divine its age and reconstruct its full original features. The painting is not only emblematic of the Piltdown Man affair, but also a fitting metaphor of all evolutionary speculation. In the end, there is little difference between the scientists depicted in Cooke’s painting and the efforts of evolutionary scientists today as a whole. They have all been deceived from the word “go.” They have all been duped by a fraud. The scene in the painting continues to be played out day after day, month after month, year after year, decade after decade, and now century after century, in the scientists laboratories and university classrooms around the world. The spirit of Piltdown Man continues to cast his spell.

We will focus more specifically upon the Piltdown Man fraud in the next article of this series.

I am a former atheist and was an evolutionist during my college days, but came to faith in Christ at the age of 20. I regard my pro-creation activities as part of the work of the kingdom of God. I believe that a very tough, strident and unapologetic stance against evolution is called for though I may soften my tone if and when Mark Armitage and David Coppedge, fired for their creationist beliefs, are given their jobs back. 1. These excellent articles are scheduled to post sequentially the week of January 17, 2016 at The Question Evolution Project on Facebook, and will help get people thinking, since February 12 in Question Evolution Day. (Later, I will put them all together in a Weblog post so they are available for quick reference). You have echoed some of my sentiments in these, and I appreciate the depth of the articles.
