The Sunrise of God
The words of John the Baptist’s father Zachariah declare the coming of the sunrise from on High. The “sunrise” Zachariah refers to is Jesus. He is the Light that came to take away our darkness. As the great Christmas hymn “Silent Night” sings:
“Silent night! holy night!
Son of God love’s pure light
radiant beams from thy holy face
with the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord at thy birth.
Jesus, Lord at thy birth.”
