Evolutionists often accuse creationists of being “anti-science” or of denying science. One author even said that denying evolution is like denying the color blue. But, in reality, it is evolutionary teaching that goes against what we observe in nature.
According to the evolutionary history of life, at some point in the distant past, life had to have arisen from non-living chemicals so that evolution could get started. However, this goes completely against what we observe in nature. The law of biogenesis, a scientific law, states that life only comes from other life. This means that, according to what we have consistently seen in nature and with absolutely no known exceptions, life has never come from non-life. With the rise of Darwinian ideas about the origin of life, many people have sought to create life from non-life but with no encouraging results. Life simply cannot be demonstrated to come from non-living chemicals.
And yet our planet is bursting with life. It doesn’t matter whether you go to the bottom of the ocean, the top of a mountain, or the most seemingly uninhabitable environment on the planet, there is life. Where did all of this life come from? Well, according to what we observe, other life. Sparrows produce sparrows. Bacterium produce bacterium. Killer whales produce killer whales. But, where did the first life come from to produce all this life? According to a biblical worldview, this life came from the Life-giver, God. It was created by Him in the beginning and each organism reproduces according to its kind. However, according to an evolutionary worldview, this life must have come about by naturalistic means. But there is no known naturalistic means that can bring life from non-life! Even with all our incredible scientific knowledge and technology we can’t artificially or intelligently bring life from non-life!
To solve this problem many evolutionists believe in the idea of directed panspermia. This is the idea that life was seeded on Earth by extraterrestrials. But all that this does is place the problem of the origin of life somewhere else where we can’t get to yet. Furthermore, there is not one single shred of observational evidence that confirms that extraterrestrials exist or that they could have seeded life on Earth. Despite years of searching, evolutionists are empty handed.
Many evolutionists have rejected God and have instead replaced Him with the idea of naturalistic evolution. In doing so, they are placing their faith in the unverifiable and unobserved idea that life arose naturalistically or that it was seeded by aliens who also had to arise naturalistically. They are placing their faith in something and that something goes against the observational data. So who is really rejecting science? Now, while rejecting science has consequences, rejecting the God who created science and this universe has far more drastic consequences, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life…He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16, 18). Instead of trusting in unobservable processes, evolutionists need to put their faith in their Creator, Jesus, and in what He did for them.
