Less than three centuries after Christ, a figurative view of creation was put down in writing and even discussed by some of the church fathers of the day. This introduced the opportunity for theistic evolution to take hold as a legitimate biblical view.
But a quick examination of the biblical accounts compared to historical evidence reveals that the book of Genesis contains a carefully documented history of the world from the beginning.
Martin Luther, speaking against the rambling hermeneutics he was faced with, wrote:
I ask you, dear reader, what need is there of those obscure and most foolish allegories when this light is so very clear . . .
Do they not smother the true meaning and replace it with an idea which is not merely useless but disastrous? . . .
For we have the Holy Spirit as our Guide. Through Moses, He does not give us foolish allegories, but He teaches us about most important events”
Jesus said:
“For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?”
