I want you to carefully notice something here. It says this is an artist illustration.
They’ve never seen anything like this in real life and barely, barely, barely seen an exoplanet ever. There’s only one telescopic image of any exoplanet. I mean, there are supposed to be like hundreds of them, but we only have one picture, and that’s okay. There probably really are those hundreds of planets, but when you see stuff like this, everyone thinks this picture is taken through a telescope, you have to redefine print to realize what’s going on.
Scientists so easily slip into language that gives the impression that they know something when the reality is that they only have an educated guess. It’s fine to make guesses, but it is unscientific to be sure about something that is only presumed and is open to falsification.
