We have defined an atheist as a person who chooses to affirm the statement, There are no gods, as true. So, an atheist is somebody, like your Communists — like Karl Marx — or your basic secular humanist evolutionist, such as Richard Dawkins.
While this definition requires the kind of active belief it takes a person to have, others define atheism in such a way that this toaster would qualify as an atheist…
According to atheism, first we start with nothing, but somehow here we are. Everything is subject to the laws of physics, except that won’t work for a Big Bang, so there had to be a time when those laws didn’t apply, but that doesn’t mean there was a god!
