Recognizing Design

Definition of Evolution meme

[Originally published as Want a definition of evolution?]

Evolution is the idea that an undirected mechanism (so-called natural selection) acts on so-called random variations yielding design. Richard Dawkins says it’s only an “appearance” of design—that biology is a study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose. He’s free to hold to his “appearance-faith,” but engineering scientists know otherwise. It is far more than a mere appearance of design!

Inside the cell, for example, we don’t just have chemical reactions going on, but we have information, storage, transmission, and processing systems. DNA is being replicated, and there is a system to utilize the information in DNA to direct the construction of proteins. Even the lowly bacteria cell has information processing and storage capacity systems.

For example, if you want to give your computer a new function (a new app), you have to give it new information. So it is with biology. If you want to build a new form of life, you must have information to build the proteins and the molecular machines. Evolution is clueless as to where this new information comes from. DNA contains instructions (genes) for how the body grows, develops, functions, and maintains itself.

Computers are merely binary (using only 0s and 1s). Life is vastly more complex. Its supernatural quaternary storage uses As, Ts, Cs, and Gs. If you can be impressed with what man-made computers can do, how much more should you be impressed with Creator-made animals. The notion that computers are NOT designed is absurd. Academics like Dawkins must surely agree. How much more absurd is the notion that DNA is not designed!

When we look at hieroglyphic inscriptions, we deduce, even if we don’t understand the language, that some human was trying to transmit information. Most of us also don’t understand DNA, but it contains a huge amount of information!

Jesus said, “Let there be light.” He stood before a tomb and said, “Lazarus, come forth.” Guess what! Light appeared, and Lazarus was raised from death. A day is coming when all who are in the graves will hear Jesus say, “Come forth,” and everyone who has ever walked this planet will come forth.

Will you be happy to see your Savior, or sad to meet Him, your Judge? Change today! Humbly ask Creator Christ to save you from the Second Death!

Hi, I’m Cheri Fields: 2nd generation homeschooling mom of seven, wife, writer, and science lover. There is a wealth of information available to help people see how trustworthy God and His testimony in the Bible is. The key is to explain concepts simply so they can be understood by anyone. This is my goal, and I’ve had a lot of fun tackling areas where the world tests our faith. CreationScience4Kids.com
