True science about the universe is fully consistent with the Bible. Ignorance is the friend of the atheist; they can take fragments of data and build a whole framework around it. In this case, a scientist went out to the desert, examined canals that people had dug to irrigate, and made an extrapolation to the features of Mars.
When ignorance goes away and true science advances, it will be consistent with the Bible. But some refuse to see this, and desperately attempt to pretend that, well, maybe the universe and everything in it somehow did make itself. But if it did, the odds of everything being only some kind of Boltman brain is more more likely.
