What does a TV detective have to do with Christian apologetics? The comedic character of Columbo gave us a great way to picture how to approach people by asking questions.

I thought today we’d get real specific and talk about what Greg Koukl calls the Columbo tactic. The last thing we want to do is try to shout at people who don’t hold our position. Questions allow us  to turn the conversation to helping someone open their mind to what they hadn’t considered before. This helps us seem less intimidating, and it helps us really hear what the unique person we’re interacting with actually believes.

It’s also something God uses to help people face truth in both the Old and New Testaments.
