A Psalm for the Morning

Rose in a prism's light, photo credit: Emily Steele

Poets have long spoken of morning’s golden hue.

The beauty of the bird’s first song

and the glistening of the dew

and all the expectation that comes with every morning new.

But have they walked these rooms and gazed upon the beauty of this space?

Or do they know what it’s like for me when the sun first touches my face?

Have they seen my kitchen

filled with sunlit prisms

Spots and streams of colorful gleams

that shine through my kitchen door?

They leaving me longing for the days on heaven’s shore

When all the hidden colors of light

will be revealed – for there is no night.

And in that glorious place,

We shall finally see His face

Light & Love together

and all the shadows erased.

May this morning psalm

Among this morning calm,

foretell the song of heaven

where one day I will dwell.

And may the Son of Heaven

The shadows of my soul dispel.
