Humanists Love Science Except When They Hate It

As a busy mom I tend to keep my head down on many social issues. I care, I vote, I teach my kids, but I have absolutely no desire for a fire fight on social media about whatever hot button issue is being debated in our culture at the moment. But this particular point is powerful enough I thought I would let you in on the direction my conversations tend to go with my kids as I prepare them to face the bizarre world of academia and secular employment in a few years.

The Irony of “Science is Real” vs Transgender

Nothing has ever been more obvious than the connection between pushing for deep time and evolution and living like God doesn’t have any say in our lives. To be an “intellectually satisfied atheist”¹ requires an explanation for how we got here without appealing to a creator. And where do they find such answers? Radiometric dating, paleontology, and scientific claims of evolutionary relationships and changes.

Science is Real² is such a powerful statement. Who could argue with it? Whether the atheists ever acknowledge it or not, Bible believers are the last to do so, but we are the first to resist the group-think of our Age claiming that science points people away from God!

When our atheistic/humanist society is pushing for behaviors that would be morally neutral if exhibited by an animal, or making claims that there is no need for a god, they love “science.” They use the findings of scientists as a foundation to build their case. Those who don’t admit God is our true Creator have turned to mathematical, logical, and scientific principles as replacements since the time of the Greeks.³ They even are often willing to embrace a kind of subtle animism as they admit nature’s proclamation of its design.4

Here’s where things get bizarre

Enter the gender issues. Every single one of those letters they keep collecting fits into this category.

Science flies in the face of people’s desire to satisfy their cravings in any of these ways.

No offspring, No inheritable genetic predisposition

It doesn’t take a Ph.D. to recognize any gene that would predispose a person to never have children can’t be passed on by natural selection. If such a condition ever arose it would be eradicated in a single generation. No offspring, no gene passage.

Necessarily this kind of behavior cannot have been inherited.

I remember figuring that one out for myself before I reached double digits (and this tells you my parents didn’t hide me under a rock).

DNA doesn’t change

I particularly appreciate those who take the desires of children to be something different to its logical conclusion. Although they aren’t the first to follow this line of reasoning, the Babylon Bee’s take on this is particularly enjoyable as we imagine what we would see if we added more options to the mix than just girl/boy.

I know I would have been thrilled to have had working fairy wings surgically implanted in my back as a girl. But how many of us would want to be strapped with such choices into adulthood?

As we have always pointed out, there are rare situations where a person’s chromosomes carry an extra copy, which can cause health issues. But that doesn’t mean the genetics designed to form us into a man or woman can be ignored or rejected at random.

When a DNA test is done on a person, they are not gender fluid or neutral. Each of us is scientifically always the same as the day we were conceived. Science is utterly unaffected by gender dysphoria. It is absolutely unrelenting in declaring us to be what we have been assigned from the moment our father’s sperm connected with our mother’s egg.

Dysphoria

Definition of dysphoriaa state of feeling very unhappy, uneasy, or dissatisfied

It is well known that all these gender issues are strongly tied to unhealthy experiences of the self. It is a tragedy to see so much pain and confusion celebrated as a good and healthy thing.

The American College of Pediatricians is a “socially conservative advocacy group of pediatricians and other healthcare professionals.”5 They have been particularly outspoken about the recent push to allow youth to choose against their God-given gender. This is one of their main arguments:

For many youth, homosexual attraction develops due to negative or traumatic experiences, such as sexual abuse. These students need therapy for the trauma, not affirmation of a “gay identity.”

Even abortion is well known to be a risk factor for a woman’s psychological health. The odds of such a mother suffering from depression is undeniable and the link to increased cancer risk cannot be ruled out (while the benefits of carrying a child to term are well known).

Creation has not rebelled against God. It will always and forever serve and honor its Creator. When humanity chooses to rebel, we bring ourselves necessarily and inescapably into the consequences of breaking the rules.

And the secular humanists hate this science.

Hi, I’m Cheri Fields: 2nd generation homeschooling mom of seven, wife, writer, and science lover. There is a wealth of information available to help people see how trustworthy God and His testimony in the Bible is. The key is to explain concepts simply so they can be understood by anyone. This is my goal, and I’ve had a lot of fun tackling areas where the world tests our faith. CreationScience4Kids.com

  1. “I know I would have been thrilled to have had working fairy wings surgically implanted in my back as a girl. But how many of us would want to be strapped with such choices into adulthood?” Good point. We change so often in our opinions. With social pressures today, who knows how many times someone might choose to switch their identity back and forth as male or female (or any other options out there in this insane world!) So taking hormones or having surgery has a permanent effect that one might later wish they had not made. Before I gave my life to Christ in 1993, I covered my arms in tattoos. Other than being able to use them to share my testimony of change, I regret those tattoos, but cannot erase them. Imagine the regret of unchangeable surgeries or hormone treatments. And parents want to allow small children this decision?????
