“I, that had much rather have men not philosophers than not Christians, should be better content to see you ignore the mysteries of nature, than deny the author of it.”
These evocative words of advice were given in the middle of the 17th century by the well-known physicist Robert Boyle.
Through scientific experimentation, Boyle was able to document the relationship between the pressure and volume of a gas in a closed system.
Commonly labeled as Boyle’s Law, this principle can be seen at work in a hospital syringe, the vitality of deep sea creatures, and the uncomfortable feeling in your ear when rapidly changing altitudes.
Even a simple air pump used to inflate a tire demonstrates Boyle’s Law, as the volume of air in a cylinder is compressed, and the pressure is increased.
Robert Boyle laid the groundwork for scientific principles that would later be expounded upon by many great scientists and physicists.
As he explored the mysteries of nature, Boyle found countless examples of order and design-and concluded that there was an infinite Designer.
